STYLE NOTES · 2 MIN READ

Shape first. Length second.

A clearer way to compare silhouettes, proportions and the length you want to live with.

Rosewater Pearl

Two sets can share a shape name and still feel very different on the hand. Width, taper, free-edge length and decoration all play a part. Separating those choices makes product photographs much easier to read.

閱讀 the outline

Start at the tip. Oval has a curved end, almond tapers to a softer point, coffin finishes with a defined flat edge, and stiletto has a sharper point. These names describe the outline, not the millimetre length or how a piece will fit your nail.

Look at the full hand as well as individual pieces. The thumb and little finger help you judge the proportions of the complete set.

Add length as a separate choice

Consider the tasks you will do while wearing the manicure: typing, fastening jewellery, handling lenses or working with fabric. A length that looks striking in a still image may ask for a different routine.

Compare actual dimensions where provided. Short, medium and long are product labels rather than universal measurements shared by every brand or shape.

Notice the height of the details

Raised accents bring another dimension to a set. Check side views, where available, and think about sleeves, knitwear and hair as well as the overall look.

If a photograph leaves the fit or scale unclear, ask about the specific product before ordering. A product link and the option you are considering are more useful than a general size label.

Choose width for fit, outline for style, and length for the way you want to wear the set.
